Barn Quilts of Pocahontas County

To celebrate Iowa's rural heritage, 2005 has been designated "The Year of the Barn and the Family Farm" by the governor of Iowa.

Pocahontas County is forming a committee called Barn Quilts of Pocahontas County.  The barn quilts will feature a different quilt design that can be painted on any farm structure such as barns, corn cribs, hog houses and storage buildings.  Commercial buildings, garages and storage sheds in area communities will also be used for quilt blocks.
